PLANETEER: YOU CAN BE ONE TOO!
One of my great loves in life is actually the environment. Though you don't normally see me roughing it in the outskirts of rain forests, it's really one of the things I'm passionate about. I just find the world so beautiful with all of its majestic landscapes, seascapes, and creatures that it's a shame if the future generations only get to experience it through old photographs and books. Preserving the environment isn't some big abstract idea, there are a lot of concrete ways to help out! In fact, here's a really simple list on how to give mother nature a hand. Don't worry, these are very easy!
3 EASY STEPS TO HELP:
1) MAKE YOUR BLOG CARBON POSITIVE. Found out about this through Sarah's blog. Basically what they do is they plant a tree after you make your blog carbon positive. How do you make your blog carbon positive? You just go to this site and grab a banner. Wanna do more? Unplug chargers/gadgets/etc after use. :)
2. DONATE P5 TO HELP SAVE THE BUTANDING. Butandings or Philippine whale sharks are on top of my to swim with list. They say these gentle giants are a sight to behold and being with them underwater is such a surreal and almost divine experience. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that you can donate to the WWF from your Banco De Oro account everytime you make an ATM transaction. Wanna do more? Forego the printed ATM receipt and/or go to WWF.org to donate :)
3. OPT FOR "FOR HERE". I know that half the charm of Starbucks lie in the convenience meaning you don't wait for too long and you get to bring your drink with you. So although using their mugs for your daily dose of java isn't as convenient, I'm pretty sure that the you won't be carrying around that cup of water with you outside of the premises. So, if you're gonna ask for water, might as well get it in the mug - more water too! Cool tip I picked up from Donna. ;) Wanna do more? Invest in chic reusable shopping bags and say goodbye to plastic bags forever.
Easy, right? :) With our powers combined, we might be able to summon Captain Planet. Haha!
I can't wait to try doing "bigger" things like maybe being able to volunteer abroad. *fingers crossed*
