CURRENTLY NO. 09
Currently No. 09: Not bad, I'm coming into the third month of doing this blog series! That means I've been a regular blogger and getting my groove back. Yeah, yeah, yeah! But speaking of blogging and posting in social media, we people need to find a balance! I've touched up a bit on it below.
The Circle by Dave Eggers. It's about Mae Holland who recently started work in The Circle - a powerful tech company pretty much like Google and Apple. The deeper I get into the book, the more she makes me cringe. Main character aside, the plot is very interesting and very apt. With statements like "privacy is stealing" - it makes you reconsider the repercussions of this digital age. And do we really need to subject ourself to an overabundance of maybe not-so-useful
WRITING
Trip Advisor reviews. Whenever I go on holidays, I always make sure to do a quick check on Trip Advisor to have a feel of the city or hotel. Likewise, I also contribute to the community by writing reviews to help my fellow travellers out. But (!) like the underlying message of The Circle, you cannot substitute experience with what the aggregate is saying (or posting). But an experience in a hotel where money and passport were stolen from the room is not something I want to risk.
LISTENING
This Year's Love by David Gray. One of the best songs to listen to when you're in love. The imagery it evokes in me is being under the lamppost with your loved one with snow falling around. Ala Serendipity as I've never actually seen snow.
THINKING
How fast everything flies by. It's mid-August already!! Time to do an assessment of the year so far, achievements, areas of improvement, goal-settings and the like. I should schedule a formal session for myself, preferably in a tub filled with bubbles, heehee :)
FEELING
the gravity of my God wants You to Know message: You have no right to wish for more, until you fully appreciate what you already have. I swear this app is always so accurate!
LOVING
Orphan Black! Seriously my favorite show right now. Spent the 4-day weekend watching Season 1 and 2 and I cannot wait to start Season 3! (Although it makes me sad that Season 4 is gonna be next year...)
WANTING
Those aromatherapy thingies. I have an oil burner but it doesn't really cut it for me, not sure if I need better oils or a better burner. Or should I just get the electronic one? What do you think?
NEEDING
To get over my apprehension with rocking the boat. I need to practice putting my foot down and exude chutzpah in all areas of my life.
WISHING
Ghost month didn't exist. Or that I wasn't aware of it. I'm a fraidy-cat. When I was younger, I thought growing older meant magically being brave, but apparently, it's not the case. :( I'm still as duwag and chicken as I was back then. It's the only time I hate my overactive imagination.
Hope your week is going well and that the second-half will be better!
I love reading reviews on Trip Advisor as well. I wouldn't want to waste my money when I get there with a bad service. Better read some helpful reviews and ponder first! :) Also, I'm thinking the same thing haha. I think I'm going to do a blog post about my assessment so far. I didn't imagine time would get so fast to more than half of the year already. I feel like I haven't crossed out a bunch of my goals for this year. But anyway, there is still four months to go to accomplish them! :)
