EATERY SPOTLIGHT: OPEN DOOR POLICY
Upon entering, the open kitchen was the first thing to grab my eye. I really like the set up as it allows you to observe (and gawk at!) the process. Ballsy move coz this really pushes for transparency. No dirty stations here! This feature reminds you that there are actual people behind your meal and this leads to a deeper respect for the food and the preparation that goes behind it.
But first, coffee. These iced lattes perked us up while waiting for our food. My boyfriend and I agree that it was not bad. Not memorable, but not bad. Decent coffee that was not drowning in sugar - that one's up to you as they provide you with syrup to sweeten to your liking.
Nom nom nom. Potato rosti with jamon de bellota, roast tomatoes, fried egg & white anchovies. My favorite things in one plate. I thoroughly enjoyed the crunch of the potatoes, the tang of the white anchovies, the perfectness of jamon de bellota, the creaminess of the yolk, and how the tomatoes balanced them out. Yes, I will go back for this dish.
You know how sometimes you walk in a restaurant, you don't bother opening the menu and you just tell the waiter that you'll have whatever the other table was devouring? It was sort of like that for this burger. Saw this big and juicy baby on the counter and we were sold. ODP wagyu burger with all the trimmings, garlic fries and japanese mayonnaise. Mr F&B connoisseur liked it better than Suprette.
All in all, I find the hype around ODP completely understandable. Nice ambience and yummy food will always attract customers even if prices are rather steep. Would definitely come back for the rosti!
