LIFE LATELY

YOU KNOW HOW I KEPT ON BABBLING ABOUT REST LAST AUGUST? Well, guess what, the first week of September was spent mostly in bed. Long story short, I acted on this really stupid impulse of trying to stop a cargo case from toppling over and got my hand caught in the middle of 2 60-kg cargo cases. Daaaymn. I ended up getting 4 stitches and having my nail removed (I just had a manicure 2 days before too!) but luckily, no broken bones and the damage was pretty much isolated to my left ring finger (how am I gonna get engaged anytime soon?! haha!) with the surrounding digits only turning black and blue. It’s super disgusting (I only had the courage to check it out 3 days after – and it still grossed me out!) and yet I’ve stopped sparing people details when they ask.. and yes, I can send you a photo if you want, haha! I talk about it lightly now, but man, if you heard my screams and sobs the first few days, you’d want to up my painkillers – and probably shove a handful to my mouth to shush me.

I’ve been staying back home in QC, TLC-ed up with 3 meals a day that I don’t have to prepare and then clean up after, wifi, and unli-aircon minus the fear of my Meralco bill skyrocketing. Sarap. 🙂 Mama has been spoiling me loads and I realized I missed randomly bugging her – something I don’t have the time nor energy to do when I’m working. So what else have I been up to aside from sleeping off the pain and (lovingly) annoying my mom?

  • Planning our 2019 trip. This has been long overdue since we originally planned on doing Italy and Spain last 2016 (I even gushed about it here) but ended up going to the US (from which the above photo was taken – I no longer have red hair, haha) instead. I know most people would prefer visiting more than 1 country on a Eurotrip – especially if you’re flying from Manila where the route is long and there’s no piso fare available – but there was no pull for other countries when I was plotting our itinerary.. as compared to the Italy leg where I was just so excited about all the towns and regions. Sooo, instead of pushing for a new country to be added to the list, we’ll be true to our hearts’ desires and immerse ourselves instead in my favorite country – ITALY. So excited!! Truth is, I was only ever there for less than 5 days back in 2011 but I loved the people, the food, and just the overall vibe, so I’m really looking forward to exploring beyond Rome and Milan. Plus, it’ll be extra special coz it’s my mom and I’s first time to go together and we both looove cooking and eating Italian food.
  • Catching up on local showbiz chismis. Guys, how cute is Carlo Aquino and Angelica Panganiban together?!?!! And Paulo Avelino’s #AskGoyo responses?! Benta!! Lastly, I am so happy for KC Concepcion and her love life! She holds a special place in my heart as we worked with her closely back in 2011 🙂 And last na talaga, back to crushing on Robi Domingo! He was one of my college crushes in Ateneo, haha
  • Going through my TBR pile. Yes, I’ve found my way to Booktube this past week and I am considering starting my own, hehe I was admiring my shelf (it’s color coded, with the exception of the top shelf since it’s TBR) and I realized I still had unread books from 2016(!!!). The things is, I’ve always believed that there is a *right time* for books and that it always finds you when you need it most, hence why I don’t read my books in order of when I buy them. I need to feel it. (Guys, I really am an F not a T in the MBTI.. I’ve been feeling through books and itineraries as illustrated by this blog post, haha!) I’ve finished Modern Romance by Aziz Ansari and I’m currently going through Curfew by Jesse Ball. Curfew somewhat reminds me of the current political atmosphere in Manila, whereas Modern Romance… see below point.
  • Online dating! Hahaha Pretty sure we’ve all gone through Tinder and Bumble, but now I’m trying something else which is more profile-centric than photo-centric. No harm in trying, right? Glad I finally found the time to fill up my profile – though hopes are tempered as I know how my attention and momentum wanes. Let’s see how it goes!

I’m thinking of what else to add here since a list of 4 doesn’t really seem substantial enough, but I’ve got nothing. This past week has been me just trying to get my hand to heal faster. Really looking forward to September though! If August was jampacked with work events, it’s the other way around for September – my social calendar is buzzin’. First time in a long time that all my weekends are booked. But hey, September is birthday month. Nine months from December, wink wink. Can’t believe I just said that, haha! Go to sleep, Reg.

xx

PS- I got it, the fifth point: Indulging in Caravan Black’s goodies. It was the S’mores Bar on Tuesday, Lemon Square on Wednesday, and the Walnut Brownie today. Monday my mom was with me the whole day coz we had my wound checked again in MMC – and had Sweet Ecstasy for lunch. Okay, so maybe the fifth point is not so specific to Carvan Black, but just indulging in good food in general. I swear I think I gained weight will here. Gym and swim soon!!! Although swim probably isn’t a good idea with my nailless finger 🙈
